Ok, let me be honest. I have always been skeptical of all natural deodorants because I have never had a lot of faith in them actually working. And I don’t mean working to just keep me smelling nice for a few hours. C’mon… I live on a humid island, I need something to keep me from sweating as I walk from one part of the house to the other.

I’ve tried Arm & Hammer’s more natural alternative, and it works decent, but it’s still not 100% natural. I’ve tried Kiss My Face, that lasts a few hours then I can’t stop sweating. I’ve tried Krystal, Toms and Desert Essence. All these are trusted brands, and none of them worked for me. So, naturally brokenhearted and forlorn in this dilemma,  I turned to retail therapy for the solution. I stumbled upon Primal Pit Paste, and I will never go back to any other deodorant again. Sorry, Arm & Hammer, you have been replaced. For your hippie Texas cousin.

Primal Pit Paste is made in Pflugerville, Texas and you only know how to say that name if you know someone from there, or have traveled through there (which I have). This home-grown brand is made with 100% all natural ingredients, not one thing is bad for you or chemically processed. Their deodorants contain organic oils, ranging from coconut, pumpkin seed, sunflower, olive, calendula and argan oils; with butters like shea, cocoa and mango. Then, to keep you dry, they use food grade ingredients like raw organic fair-trade sugar, aluminum-free baking soda, kaolin clay, organic vegetable glycerin, magnesium, organic arrowroot powder, non-GMO vitamin E from sunflowers, organic beeswax, witch hazel, aloe vera and pure water. Lastly, to keep you smelling your best, they use organic, wild crafted, steam distilled and cold pressed essential oils. WOW. Can you get anymore BETTER FOR YOU than that???

Now I’ve been using the Coconut Lime scent in Regular strength, which I purchased using one of their many promotional offers and coupons that they generously distribute to friends and fans (ahem… no reason not to give them a try!). And I have put it to the test — power yoga classes, aerobics classes, cardio sessions, walking from one end of my house to the next, stressful situations, you name it! This. stuff. works. And I only apply it once a day, except after showering from workouts.

It’s a little different than normal tube based deodorant (although they do offer that option too), in that you basically use a small, included Popsicle stick to scoop a pea sized amount out onto your fingertips – which you then apply under the arms and rub until absorbed. Since it’s coconut oil based, it immediately starts to melt once you touch it. But I can say that the deodorant itself maintains its consistency when in the glass jar, even in my humid, no A/C house. If it does start to melt, you can easily pop it into the fridge to bring it back to normal.
