the most inspiring instagram accounts

I am one of those people, one of those who does the Instagramming. I am not addicted to it, but I do like using it to discover new companies, new products and new people to be inspired by. Through Instagram, I discovered my now favorite organic, all natural sunscreen; my protein and greens, my deodorant that I just shared about last week… you get the idea. I’ve also discovered new places to visit, wanderlusted through several travelogues, screencaptured many bikinis to purchase later, and cooked and baked several delicious recipes. So this is my first installment of my favorite, most inspiring Instagram accounts that you should follow today. Of course, since this is an ever growing, constantly changing curated list, there will be future installments. But allow me to showcase this handful of awe inspiring women: @talinegabriel | you may know her as #hippielane . She is creator of the Hippie Lane app, an app of delicious vegan, gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free desserts that make your mouth water. #foodporn @stellacrick | surfer, …

menagerie: island vibe

Time for island inspiration! Summer is closing in, and while I’m away basking in the sunshine of Bali, here are some of my favorite pins to share that island fever with ya! Where you headed this summer? Share your vacation plans with us! Especially if you’re visiting an island!

menagerie: healthy breakfasts

Now eating healthy can be pretty too, thanks to the growing trend of fresh and wholesome foods & the need to get that metabolism up and running early in the morning. In ayurveda traditions, the morning is the time to replenish the body by detoxing all the negative energy (through yoga or another meditative form of exercise) and excrete all of yesterday’s leftover energy to get ready to fill the body with new and fresh goodness. We all already know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not make it something your body will thank you for?? Here are some of my favorite healthy breakfasts with fruits and protein, with some sneaky yummy treats that are wholesome too. Fresh Fruit Bowl | Muesli |  Coconut Chia Pudding via me | Coconut Black Rice Breakfast Pudding | Chia Pudding with Plums & Figs | Acai Bowl with Berries | Sourdough & Coconut Pancakes | Berry & Kale Superfood Breakfast Bowl

menagerie: drinks & juices

I was perusing Pinterest for some delicious drinks and juice blends and I found all these great concoctions! I realize most of them are summery. Okay, yes I know that summer is practically over for most of you – but summer is all year round on Puerto Rico! And September is a month when tourists are lacking, restaurants and bars close down and the heat climbs like it’s simply an extension of hot-August. So we’re in need a few good refreshing beverages, and I’m sure you are too regardless of your season. So take out a pencil, jot down these names or visit the links to get the recipes, and start whippin up your own!   Matcha Mint Iced Tea | Pineapple Flurry with Coconut Chia Seed Pudding | Carrot Breakfast Juice | Carrot Orange Mango Smoothie | Lemongrass Coconut Mango Lassi | Pear Nectar Thyme Mimosa | Milk Boba Tea | Spicy Grapefruit Margarita

menagerie: tapas, appetizers & sides

I love small dishes of food. I think it’s because I eat all throughout the day, usually little things but many little things. And I love going to eat at places with tapas or smaller plates to share; so you have a chance to sample a lot of their best dishes. Perhaps you’re like me and prefer to eat from several smaller plates of food too? If yes, then you’ll love this menagerie of my favorite tapas, appetizers and sides recipes, curated from Pinterest no doubt. Here ya go: Herb Salted Garlic French Fries | Cauliflower Couscous Salad with Herbs | Cauliflower & Roasted Garbanzo Rice & Peas | Parmesan Crusted Cauliflower Poppers | Buffalo Style Quinoa Sliders | Root Chips | Green Pizza | Fish Tacos from La Cambija (Rincon favorite)

menagerie: yoga pose inspiration

How will you challenge yourself today? I love the beauty that yoga brings to life. Such seemingly simple movements of the body, working in coordination with the mind, and slowing down the thoughts to relieve the soul. Here are some of my favorite poses as a bit of inspiration for your morning! Flying Pigeon Variation | Back Bend | Bow Variation | Peacock Pose | Two Footed Staff Pose Variation | Yoga Mudrasana | (Fallen Angel Pose) Side Crow Variation | Camel | Eight Angle Prep | Crow | Crescent Lunge

wedding plans: an update

Oh, the planning. The rentals, the dress, the hair and makeup, the details. So much time goes into planning down to almost every moment of my special day. I think the real mystery is how to stay sane during the process. Want to know my secret? Start planning early. Have backups. Nothing is perfect, and not everything will turn out like you want it to. Enlist the help of someone you love (thanks mom!). Go with the flow. I was at home for two weeks back in June. Since living here, but getting married in Texas, I have minimal time spent in my wedding location to actually plan. In fact, most of my planning has been done over the phone or internet, and placing my trust in my mom to figure out the details. So far, things have been on track. But while I was home, I made the most of my time.  We visited four different dress shops, I found THE ONE and got it altered in two days. Done. We talked to two …

menagerie: yoga + healthier sweets

My Pinteresting last week was all yoga and sweets. Partially because of two things: (1) I gave up processed sweets (or desserts after dinner) for Lent and (2) I’m amped about my yoga teacher training in May! I got an approval from my church in Rincon to offer a yoga class once a week for free to our congregation and I was overjoyed to receive this news! Then, because I have a horrible sweet tooth, I’ve been trying to find healthier alternatives to some of the desserts I love to make. For instance, last week I baked chickpea blondies. Yup, that’s right – no flour, no butter, no eggs, no dairy — made with chickpeas, peanut butter and agave, these were heaven sent (no Lenten pun intended). So here are some of pins and things I’m loving lately: black bean brownie | namaste hands | aerial mermaid | beach headstand | toasted coconut mousse | prayer meditation | beach hand stand | forward fold | chickpea blondies | oatmeal peanut butter squares | superfood snack …

menagerie: healthy new recipes to try

I love using Pinterest for food inspiration. Whenever I have a certain idea for a dessert, or appetizer, I first search for the key terms in Pinterest – like “whole wheat chocolate muffins” – and then glance through until something catches my eye. But lately I’ve been noticing a lot of new “healthier” alternatives in my feed, from other pinners. I wanted to share some of my favorite inspirations with you. Perhaps you’ll get motivated to try a completely new dish or technique!?
