As the day draws even closer, we are growing increasingly excited about our wedding and honeymoon! The final plans are coming together, we’re booking our stay over in Bali, and tying up all the loose ends for the final preparation of the big day. Soon Evan and I will be waving farewell to Puerto Rico as we head out to Texas! I can’t believe we are finally making this a reality. It seems like the last two months have just flown past us and now we are packing and making lists, and crossing off tasks, and eagerly busying ourselves over the next few days to finish up all the work here before departing.
How time flies? If I count the days before my wedding, Evan and I have been together for about 1795 days (that’s just shy of 5 years!). Hard to believe that five years has almost passed and I’ve spent those years head over heels for this person. I think you know it’s true love when you just sit silently next to each other without speaking a single word and totally enjoy every single second.
I’m currently looking for a special and creative way to show this love on our wedding day through a card. Any suggestions? We have agreed not to exchange any gifts, choosing instead to just contribute what we would spend towards our honeymoon. But I still want to pass along a special little something for him to read before the ceremony. What are your ideas?
In the meantime, I’ve been meticulously pouring over the Lonely Planet guide to Bali, trying to pinpoint all the fun places we plan to visit. Lucky me, I have blog contributor LOU to help out with suggestions! (thanks girl!). So far we have booked three places – a bed and breakfast, an open air cottage in the rice fields and a cliff side escape by the beach. This island looks so intoxicating that I do fear I will never want to leave. I’m sure Lou can definitely vouch for this feeling!
We are hoping to find homestays and guesthouses versus chain hotels and fancy resorts. That’s just not our style of travel. We are so excited for our first few nights because we’ll be staying with a family who truly enjoys showing off their island — and we can appreciate that because it’s exactly how we feel about Puerto Rico. Right, all my guests? Haven’t you guys seen so much of the island when you visit?? Best tour guides, yup! So anyways, I’m eager to explore the cultural center of Ubud and visit some of the central mountain temples. Evan is a thrill seeker and amped to get the coast for the renown surf. And we’re both just giddy like two nerdy scientists ready to dive into the Indo-Pacific for a coral reef shock of wildlife that I personally have never experienced. It will be my first time diving in the Pacific Ocean and I just can’t wait to soak it all in!
So our countdown has begun. We are just a handful of days away. Wanderlust with me a bit?
